Accelerate your career with a HGV driving role with leading digital and telecommunications company, BT. If you have the drive to deliver BT’s high standard of customer service, as well as their goods, then a Class 2 Driver could be a great fit for you.
We have worked with BT for over 5 years and have a number of driving jobs on offer. We are looking for suitable candidates to work specifically as part of BT’s supply chain division (BTSC).
As a Class 2 Driver you will drive category C vehicles all over the UK. This is a varied role but will heavily involve supporting two of BTSC’s national hubs based in Northallerton and Lutterworth’s Magna Park. Other aspects of the Class 2 driving job will include travelling to and from nine distributed transport depots and any of BT’s almost 100 forward stock locations.
This position will be well suited to someone who takes pride in their driving and people skills. You will be playing an important role in managing BT’s logistics, so we are looking for individuals who are willing to go the extra mile. This means you will have excellent interpersonal skills to form relationships with key contacts and account teams at pick-up and drop-off locations, as well as the ability to remain professional and calm when managing frustrated stakeholders should a delivery be unexpectedly behind schedule. You will also be able to keep a cool head whilst travelling in heavy traffic.
BT prides itself on exceptional internal and external customer care so additional qualities you will display include being able to meet tight deadlines and work efficiently, together with the ability to plan the most suitable routes to end destinations. A good understanding of UK geography will be highly beneficial for these reasons.
Excellent HGV driving skills are essential and you will be experienced and confident behind the wheel. Good mechanical knowledge is a definite advantage when spending long periods of time on the road; identifying potential problems with your vehicle can prevent potential health and safety issues. And will of course assist BT in maintaining their usual high standard of customer care.
Further skills required for these driving jobs include a good level of writing ability. This will be needed for completing the documentation associated with your deliveries and collections.
Flexibility is another quality that this role requires as shift patterns and the locations to which you are required to travel are changeable but the standard hours per week for their Class 2 Drivers is a total of 36 hours.
BTSC operates a sign in sheet system to allow for variations is routes and to calculate pay.
