How to Become a Systems Safety Engineer
There are several routes into this profession. Many Systems Safety Engineers start with a background in other military engineering practices and roles, including Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Airworthiness Engineer. A degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field is usually required, but the most important factor is experience with engineering processes, risk assessment methods, and structured safety analysis. You will also need security clearance to work in defence positions, such as BPSS or DV, depending on your role.
